In July 2025, we conducted our first Canvas of Hope workshop session, an initiative designed to spark conversations around mental well-being among young children through the transformative power of creative expression.
Led by Riya K., the session opened with a warm round of introductions and an interactive emotion-based icebreaker, inviting children to reflect on feelings like happiness, sadness, anger, and fear. This set the stage for a thoughtful dialogue on the meaning of mental health, the importance of self-expression, and the quiet ways in which emotional well-being affects our daily lives, from sleep and digestion to stress management.
The session included a guided mindfulness activity (a simple but grounding breathing exercise) to help students reconnect with their bodies and surroundings. Children also received a copy of our specially designed Canvas of Hope: Acts of Care activity book, filled with art, journaling, and doodling prompts to encourage positive self-reflection and expression.
